Thomas E. ''Tom'' Myrick, Sr., 77, of Roanoke Rapids passed away on Tuesday, November 23rd at MCV Hospitals in Richmond from complications of a massive stroke. He passed peacefully in the passionate care of the nurses and physicians of the Thomas Palliative Care unit of MCV Hospitals.

A graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School, class of 1951, he was a member of Rosemary Baptist Church and was very active in many civic groups and community causes. In addition to always offering a helping hand to others, he loved golf, fishing and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Raleigh Myrick, and his mother, Emma Erwin Myrick, his brother, Walter ''Bear'' Myrick, and his sister, Aleane Carawan.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Libby, of Roanoke Rapids; two sons, Thomas E. Myrick Jr. and his wife, Pamela, of Colonial Heights, VA, Randy Myrick and his wife, Amy, of Prince George County, Va; four grandchildren, Peggy Elizabeth Myrick, Thomas E. Myrick III and his wife, Colleen Atilano, Brittany Myrick and Kristen Myrick; one great-grandson, Jack Thomas Myrick; a brother, Howard Myrick of Wrightsville Beach; and a sister, Betty M. Felts of Greensboro.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, November 26, at 2:00 p.m. at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids with Dr. Layne Wallace officiating. The family will receive friends at the graveside following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Autism Speaks, 1 E. 33rd Street, 4th floor, New York, NY 10016 in honor of his granddaughter, Kristen Myrick.
